Ready for the course

Golf balls weigh up to 45 g and reach speeds of up to 270 km/h. In the interest of safety, that means certain rules have to be observed.

The Course Certificate Examination is designed to test your basic knowledge of the game as well as the necessary safety measures and etiquette. You need the certificate to join a club. It also constitutes your initial handicap (Hcp) of –54, i.e. a maximum of 54 strokes over the standard for the course (par). To obtain the certificate in Austria you must take the Course Certificate Examination at a golf club as prescribed by the national Golf Association.
